mc5 AboutLet me first say that this website is long overdue. I can honestly say that of all my “side-projects” this has always been the least important for me to implement. It has nothing to do with setting up a blog but more so with me being ready to do it. I’ll get in greater detail on this later but for now let’s start with the basics.

My Origin
  • Born Marvin P. Cummings on February 7, 1970 at “Grady Memorial” hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.
  • I’m the oldest of “four” kids all of whom were raised by our loving mother “Delores Johnson” who herself is a native of Georgia. The core of this small clan consists of a “sister”, her fraternal twin “brother”, and a “younger sister”. Both of my sisters have two kids totaling three (3) nephews and one (1) niece.
  • We grew up in the “East Lake Meadows” apartment community and all went to “Charles R. Drew” elementary.
  • I attended high school at “East Atlanta High” and graduated as part of the last senior class in “1988”.
  • While in high school I participated in the “JROTC” program which motivated me to join the military.
Military
  • Enlisted in the “US Army” as a “Combat Engineer (MOS 12B)” and left for basic training shortly after graduating from high school in 1988.
  • Entered the US Army as “Private First Class (PFC)” and spent 14 weeks in basic training at the “Fort Leonard Wood” training facility located in Missouri.
  • First tour of duty: “Wildflecken, West Germany” as a “Combat Engineer (MOS 12B)” in the “54th Engineer Battalion”, “130th Engineer Brigade”.
  • My unit, the “54th Engineer Battalion”, deployed to the “Gulf War” in “Saudi Arabia” for “Operation Desert Storm” in February 2003.
  • Serving as a “Team Leader” I drove and maintained my squads’ “M113 Armored Personnel Carrier (APC)” and assisted in performing various missions during the push by US and allied forces into “Kuwait”.
  • Returned from “Gulf War, Desert Storm” in May 2001 and re-enlisted for a second tour of duty in June 2001.
  • Second tour of duty: “Ft. Benning”, GA in July, 2001.
  • Promoted to rank of “Sergeant (E5)” in March, 2003.
  • Reclassified to “Bridge Crewman (MOS 12C)”. Received reclassification training at “Ft. Leonard Wood”.
  • Processed out of the “US Army” as “E5” with an “Honorable Discharge” December 2003.
  • One (1) year National Guard commitment, LaGrange, GA.
